Flores Solar Water GmbH
Flores Solar Water GmbH has developed a system that transforms salt and brackish water into high quality potable water. This is done through their product - Solar Water Cell (often referred to as SWC). The only requirements for operation are a location with high solar radiation and access to water. The SWCs have many other advantages, as their desalination process does not require the use of electricity or chemicals and the modules are scalable, consequently facilitating higher production of water. The bionic design of the system is inspired and operates similarly to the natural water cycle. Within the module, salt- or contaminated water is heated by the sun and then evaporates (solar humidification), while salts, toxins, and harmful substances are held back and removed. Through the natural purification cycle, the accumulated steam is then collected for consumption. Through this process, 10 liters of high quality drinking water is created from 100 liters of former unused and idle salt- and brackish water (per module, if used once per day). With the surplus unpurified water, this process can be repeated up to 30 times. The modules create the highest quality drinking water, which meet German and international drinking water guidelines. Flores Solar Water GmbH has completed development of the Solar Water Cells. During construction, special focus was on cost-efficient production and good transport properties. The first major demonstration plant was installed in Provence, Southern France. Please see www.flores-solar-water.com for more information. |
